Mingus & Monk concert highlights to air April 11

Highlights from the recent Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra concert of big band arrangements of music by two jazz icons, Thelonious Monk and Charles Mingus will air on Jim Wilke’s Jazz Northwest on KPLU 88.5 FM on Sunday, April 11 at 1 PM  PDT.

Among the classic compositions are Fables of Faubus, Haitian Fight Song, Misterioso and Boogie Stop Shuffle, featuring arrangements by Sy Johnson, Bob Hammer, Chuck Israels, Scott Mcpherson and SRJO co-director Michael Brockman.

The concert was recorded during a sold out performance at the Kirkland Performance Center on March 7, 2010.  Jazz Northwest is recorded and produced by Jim Wilke exclusively for KPLU 88.5 and kplu.org. The program is also available as a podcast from kplu.org following the airdate.
