Mark Taylor’s Spectre honored by Earshot

Saxophonist Mark Taylor, a key member of SRJO’s sax line, was recently recognized by the Earshot 2009 Golden Ear Awards when his outstanding release, Spectre (Origin 82529) was selected as NW Recording of the Year. This follows Mark’s selection last year as NW Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year.

Jazz lovers who attend SRJO concerts are very familiar with Mark’s work, and frequent solos (including the one pictured here, clearly enjoyed by Hadley Caliman), on the alto sax. On Spectre Mark reveals his signature soprano tone on many of the 12 tracks, eight of which are Taylor originals.
